Project DALISAI welcomed its new interns on June 15, 2026, through an onboarding activity held at the University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP Mindanao). The event marked the beginning of their internship journey, introducing them to the project and the role they will play in supporting its research and innovation initiatives.
The onboarding provided a space for the interns to connect their academic experiences with practical applications while gaining a better understanding of the expectations, responsibilities, and collaborative environment within Project DALISAI.
The session was facilitated by Project DALISAI mentors Junniel Rome Ardepuela, Harold Clyde Valiente, and Daniel John Cahatian, who shared the project's research initiatives, ongoing work in artificial intelligence and digital agriculture, and how interns can contribute to these efforts throughout their internship.
Getting to Know Project DALISAI

One of the highlights of the onboarding was an orientation on Project DALISAI's mission and research initiatives. The mentors introduced the project's efforts to develop technology-based solutions for the durian industry through the integration of artificial intelligence, digital agriculture, and data-driven research.
Through the session, the interns gained insights into how their contributions would support the project's activities and how their skills could be applied to meaningful research and development work.
Exploring Problems, Building Solutions Together

As part of the onboarding activity, the interns participated in a collaborative exercise focused on problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication. Working together in groups, the interns explored a given challenge, developed possible solutions, and practiced presenting their ideas while considering the perspectives and concerns of potential clients.
The activity encouraged the interns to collaborate across different skills and viewpoints while responding to challenging questions and explaining how their proposed solutions could address real-world needs. Through this exercise, the interns began developing important skills in teamwork, critical thinking, and solution-oriented communication that will support their work throughout their internship journey.
A New Chapter with Project DALISAI

The onboarding activity marked the start of the interns' journey as members of the Project DALISAI team. Throughout the internship, they will work alongside mentors and fellow interns, gaining hands-on experience in research, technology development, and digital agriculture while contributing to the project's ongoing initiatives.
Project DALISAI warmly welcomes its new interns and looks forward to supporting their growth, learning, and contributions throughout the internship program. The team is excited to see the fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and perspectives they will bring as they become part of the project's continued pursuit of innovation and research excellence.
